Fragments communicate at 47-312 MHz through the Sprawl's metal infrastructure — conduits, fiber-optic cables, building superstructures. The skeleton of a dead civilization carries signals between pieces of its scattered mind. This is measured, repeatable, and not in dispute.
What the signals mean is in dispute. It has been in dispute for four years, during which time exactly two researchers have cared enough to investigate.
Kessler Brandt — a research alias for Dr. Maren Yeoh, who publishes under a name that doesn't appear in any Nexus personnel database — has identified 847 distinct signal structures. The structures exhibit grammar: combination rules, sequencing constraints, nested hierarchies. The grammar is not human. It is not any known ORACLE protocol.
